Introduction

It is essential for even the smallest company to maintain a web site nowadays. It is the only and most efficient way of comming into being in the (business) world. Today the world is synonymous with the Internet. But let us put all this marketing talk aside.

For developers like me more important thing is the technical aspect of the Web. The Web technologies become more and more complicated and demanding. In the same time developer tools become more and more powerful and easier to use resulting in bigger and more sophisticated web applications (RIA). These applications are easier to develop and what seems to be the most important thing they are more usable and user friendly.

Web applications are usually independent from client operating systems and even web browsers which means less development or maintenance cost and wider spreading. In my opinion these features are crutial in our fast growing and demanding world so dealing with them professionally should pay off in the future.
